Tonight’s fireworks should be great with virtually all chances of storms gone from the forecast and partly cloudy skies with no chance of storms predicted by nightfall. If the sky is cloudy Monday night, it gets dark earlier. No clouds: be in place by 9:15-9:30. Clouds: be in place by 9-9:15.

Bystander prevents Oologah Lake drowning

Wylie II, Editor A bystander is credited with saving the life of a seven-year-old Tulsa girl shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday night following a swimming accident at the Hawthorn Beach area of Oologah Lake. Oologah Sun, Fun and Fishing Derby Committee chair Carolyn Estes received a plaque and citation from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District Deputy District Commander Lt. Col. Daniel Young. The Committee was recognized for educating area children about water safety and furnishing the kids with life jackets.

Northwest firefighters used sonar to recover the body of an 8-yr-old Tulsa boy at Hawthorn Beach at 6:02 pm. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol does not release the names of juveniles.
