A new Oologah town park and community building gained new life Monday morning.
Oologah Town Board members approved relocating the park behind town hall to make room for the community building at a special meeting.
The board had voted against the park relocation last month after a vocal public protest. Oologah Community Foundation Chairman Willie Barron had spoken to people opposed to moving the park and he gave a presentation at Monday’s meeting.
“This is something we have to address. Our community center now is embarrassing,” Barron said. “I understand people’s feelings about the park, but we need to think about the next generation.”
