A 53-year-old Claremore man was being held in the Rogers County Jail Monday night after deputies arrested him at Spencer Creek Park on Oologah Lake for allegedly attempting to molest children ages 7-15, jail records show.
Hugh Morgan Wilson of the 200 block of S. Davis was being held on $115,000 bond on complaints of making lewd or indecent proposals/acts to a child and kidnapping.
No formal charges had been filed by Monday, but if those charges are filed by the District Attorney both are felonies.
The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office booking report and probable cause affidavit gives this account:
Officers were dispatched at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday night, July 1, to Spencer Creek, a popular recreation area on the southeast side of Oologah Lake after a mother reported that her 15-year-old son had been asked by an older man “if he wanted to take a shower with him.”
Officers identified the campsite where the man was staying. The camp host told a deputy there were three other possible victims, all under age 16.
Deputies identified the suspect as Wilson
The victims all said Wilson asked if he wanted to take a shower with him.
“It was also reported that the suspect was hiding in a tree line and approached and then chased a seven-year-old and an eleven-year-old. The victims were walking together to the bathroom when they noticed a rock land by their feet,” the report said.
The victims said Wilson came from a dark area behind some trees, and an older man asked him to come over to him.
“The children then ran and were pursued by the suspect,” the report said. “The children stated they ran back to their campsite and told their mother,” the report said.
