District Attorney Janice Steidley and members of her staff were cleared of any criminal wrongdoing or actions that would lead to ouster proceedings in a 74-page report issued today by Oklahoma’s multicounty grand jury.
The grand jury was critical of some actions of the DA and her staff, but also said there was blame on all sides. It urged the DA and law enforcement to work out their differences and help rebuild a criminal justice system it called “dysfunctional.”
The report covers only the allegations contained in a grand jury petition last fall against Steidley. Further investigation is needed of allegations involving county commissioners and allegations brought to the Attorney General by Steidley, the report said.
The Grand Jury will next meet June 24-26.
A detailed story will be published Wednesday in the Leader, and the complete text of the report is posted here.
