Services Monday for Scot Michael Shuman

Scot Michael Shuman, 44, of Collinsville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Scot was born May 8, 1969 in Livermore, Calif. to Michael L. and Sarah J. (McPherson) Shuman.

He was reared primarily in Oologah and was a graduate of Oologah High School, Class of 1987. Scot then attended the University of Tulsa where he received his bachelor’s degree. Scot later enlisted in the US Air Force, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant; he currently was a technician with the Oklahoma Air National Guard.

Scot was a person of many talents. During college and throughout his life he was involved in theatrical productions both as an actor and behind the scenes; he loved fishing and most especially giving back to others through volunteer work.

Scot is survived by his parents, Michael and Sarah Shuman of Oologah; a sister, Amy Parsels and husband, Steven, of Brockport, New York; a nephew Jeremy Shuman, also of Brockport; and his fiancée and her daughter, Natalie and Ali. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 5 in the chapel of Mowery Funeral Service, Owasso with Michael Shirley, Lt Col, OKANG Chaplain, 138th Fighter Wing, officiating. Final military honors will be accorded Scot by the Oklahoma Air National Guard.

There will be no public visitation. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, to honor Scot’s memory, that persons donate time to serving others.

Arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
