Oologah brought home four individual champions from the conference track meet last Saturday at Vinita.
The Mustangs took second as a team and Oologah claimed the top three spots in two events.
“I was really proud of our four conference champions. It’s a great way to go into the regional and hopefully this weekend we’ll have some regional champs,” said head coach Boone Upkey.
Junior Tristan Owens took first in the 1,600m run with a time of 4.29:06. He broke his own school record he set earlier in the season at the Oologah meet. Owens also won the 800m run in 1.59:06.
Oologah claimed the top three spots in the shot put. Senior Tyler Base won the conference championship with a 54’1” throw. Junior Payton Craig took second with a 44’8” throw and Sean Collins finished third.
The Mustangs also swept the podium in the discus. Craig took first with a 146’3” throw. Tyler Base finished second with a 145’11” attempt and Casey Base took third.
Junior Brooke Hill won the conference championship in the discus with a 123’5” throw. Brook Wigginton took fifth in the event.
Drew Humphrey and Jacob Taylor took second and third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 11 feet. Breyden DeSpain finished second in the long jump with a 19’1” leap.
Billy O’Dell, Kyle Dunse, Josh Thompson and Justin Morgan took second in the 4 x 800m relay with a time of 9.15:72. Dunse took third in the 3,200m run and O’Dell finished fourth.
Oologah will host the regional track meet this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
