A 74-year-old Nowata man was pronounced dead and his 72-year-old wife died later at a Tulsa hospital following a one vehicle crash Friday morning at US 169 and E. 320 Rd.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Glenn Warren was driving his 1999 Ford F150 pickup south on the highway at 9:21 a.m. when for an unknown reason it veered off the highway to the right and struck a tree.
The report said Warren was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision at the accident scene.
His wife and only passenger, Barbara Warren, was treated at the scene by OTEMS ambulance and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where she was admitted in critical condition suffering internal injuries. She died at 12:31 a.m. Saturday, the patrol said.
The driver was not using his seatbelt but his wife was. The front airbags did deploy.
Both the condition of the driver at the time of the accident and the cause of the collision were listed as unknown and under investigation.
