Oologah qualified 13 students in 18 events for the state speech and debate tournament at the Tulsa Union regional last weekend. The team earned the third place Sweepstakes trophy. “Even though we’ve qualified students for state competition every year for over 20 years, this has to be some kind of record. I am one crazy happy coach,” Oologah speech coach Jennifer Denslow said. State qualifiers are Katelyn Cole (front from left) regional champion in Prose Interpretation, Brook Wigginton second in Prose Interpretation, Ethan Williams second in Humorous Duet, third in Humorous Interpretation and seventh in Dramatic Duet, Andrea Townes (back from left) seventh in Dramatic Duet, Alex Weare second in Humorous Duet, Beth Clark second in Dramatic Duet and third in Monologue, Mia Graham second in Dramatic Duet, third in Humorous Duet and third in Dramatic Interpretation, Layce Day fourth in Dramatic Duet, Josh Vire third in Humorous Duet and fifth in Humorous Interpretation and Hannah Ledford eighth in Original Oratory.
