The doors officially opened at a new Oologah Apple Market just after noon Monday.
A crowd was waiting outside and they started applauding and cheering when they walked into the store.
“Everything went great,” store manager Eddie Trueblood said. “The excitement and support from the customers was overwhelming. Everybody was so nice and the feedback was so positive.”
There were so many customers coming into the store in the first hours that they were running short on shopping carts. The staff worked long hours the last few weeks to get ready for opening day.
“We said we were going to do it or die trying and we did it,” Trueblood said. “We had a few technical problems but we had IT people in the store and they were able to fix the problem.”
Workers were still putting up signage in the store Monday and wrapping up the finishing touches. Trueblood said the new crew passed their first test with flying colors.
“The staff did a great job. They were wonderful. They all did a good job,” he said. “There was a little bit of a learning curve but the customers were very understanding and supportive.”
