Ladies end volleyball season

An outstanding season came to a disappointing end for the Lady Mustang volleyball team last Thursday.

Oologah posted a winning 21-8 record for the first time since reviving the program. The Lady Mustangs also notched their first playoff victory Thursday.

Oologah took on Metro Christian in the semi-finals of regionals. Metro jumped out to an early lead and took the first set 25-13.

The Lady Mustangs battled back in the second set. After trailing 15-12, Courtney Sappington and Leslie Gibson started hitting kill shots and acing serves to take a 24-23 lead. Oologah took the second set 28-26.

Metro rolled through the third set for 25-15 win. Oologah turned the tables again in the fourth set.

Gibson blasted a kill shot to take a late lead and Oologah won the set 25-22. It all came down to a fifth and final set.

Kelsey Garrison scored a point to take the lead 10-9. The Lady Mustangs held on for a 15-12 and a spot in the championship game.

Oologah fell to Catoosa in the final match 25-17, 25-13, 25-20.
