Softball starts strong

Oologah has started the season ranked #3 in 4A softball.

The Lady Mustangs opened the season with a 3-2 record at a tough, Broken Arrow Tournament last weekend. The defending state champions beat 6ASapulpa, 6A Putnam City North and 5A Edmond Deer Creek and lost to 6AMuskogeeand 4A Poteau.

Half the team has limited varsity experience and they still came out strong against some of the biggest schools in the state.PutnamCity,EdmondandMuskogeeare all top 20 teams.

“I told the girls that tournament could be the toughest part of the schedule other than playoffs. We usually have a couple of games under our belt but we didn’t this year with all the rain,” Oologah head coach Kerry Hallman said. “It’s a tough place to start the season but the girls played well and we got out of there with a winning record.”

Oologah 6- Putnam City North 5
