Northwest firefighters freed the driver of a pickup truck that ran into the back of a parked semi on Wednesday morning on northbound US 169 just south of Oologah. He was transported to a hospital by OTEMS medics.
The accident occurred about 10 am, and the northbound highway was closed.
The semi driver had pulled onto the shoulder to check his tires. The pickup truck drifted onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the semi.
In the photo by Carolyn Estes, the pickup driver is seen calling family members on his cell while firefighters work to extricate him from the wreckage.
