All John York and James Senese had to do to win seats as board members of the Northwest Rogers County fire district was to file for office last week.
Nobody filed against them, nobody protested their candidacy by the end of the day Friday, and they were elected by default, according to the Rogers County Election Board.
York, 70, of rural Oologah, is the incumbent director for the Position No. 1 seat. His new five-year term begins with the first board meeting in January 1 and runs through the first board meeting in January 2019.
Senese will be a new member of the Northwest board, filling the seat previously held by a Northwest pioneer, Stu Berry. Senese, 69, of rural Claremore, will serve a term that runs through January 2018. Senese is a retired business executive who now is a business professor at the University of Tulsa.
