A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a semi on US 169 near 126th St. North Monday night has been identified.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Thursday that Dennis Ray Jones, 40, of Tulsa, had been walking in the outside southbound lane of the four-lane divided highway about 10:17 p.m. when he was struck by a southbound 2012 Freightliner.
Jones died at the scene of massive injuries and the southbound lanes were closed almost two hours, until 11:57 p.m., the patrol said.
Neither truck driver Jose Cristobal, 35, of Garland, Texas nor passenger Christopher Sanchez, 27, of McKinney, Texas suffered any injuries in the crash. Both were wearing seat belts.
The patrol said the weather was clear and the road was dry when the crash occurred. It said the truck driver’s condition was “normal” at the time of the crash.
OHP released the victim’s identity at mid-morning Thursday after the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was able to make a positive identification and troopers could notify next of kin.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol had three troopers at the scene, assisted by Collinsville Ambulance and Collinsville Rural Fire Department.
