Harbor Church is hosting a free garage sale for the entire community on April 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Harbor Church campus. The event, Share Day, is designed to provide some basic needs to members of the Oologah community.
Harbor Church members have been gathering basic everyday items for the past month, and are planning to share the items with their neighbors and friends.
Share Day is organized as a garage sale, but the items at Share Day will be given away for free. Event coordinators are also anticipating some valuable items to be donated to the event for families who are in need.
All guests attending Share Day will be given two bags; adults will also be given one voucher that can be used to claim one big ticket item.
Event Coordinators have asked for donations of clothes, appliances, household items, toys, furniture, tools and other items, all of which are being donated by Harbor Church members.
Janet Burnside, the coordinator of this year’s Share Day event, had this outreach event put on her heart after working at a similar event at a Broken Arrow Church.
“We love our community and thought this would be a great way to give back. We want to share with others some of the things we no longer want or need. We are also going out into the community and serve there as well,” Burnside said.
Share Day is also going to making an impact on the Oologah community itself. Event coordinators have planned multiple service projects that will be completed by event volunteers. Caleb Jernigan, the Pastor of Leadership Development at Harbor Church, is excited to give back to the community in a unique way.
“As believers in Christ we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. This event has been put together to help meet some practical needs within our community,” Jernigan says.
