A 23-month-old toddler drowned about 7:15 a.m. today (Saturday, April 6) in a pond at his grandmother’s home west of Oologah, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Cutter Emmons of Owasso.
Trooper Gina Gillis of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Division gave this account:
“The grandmother of the victim was babysitting. She and victim were in the yard of residence.
“The grandmother noticed the victim was missing after approximately 10 minutes, and began searching for him. When she looked towards the pond, she noticed the victim was face down in the water.
“The grandmother recovered victim from the pond, at which time she and her adult son, who had been asleep inside the residence, began to perform CPR.”
OTEMS ambulance was called. Medics treated the child and took him to St. John Owasso, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident occurred in the 11900 block of S. 4070 Rd. north of E. 400 Rd.
