Oologah junior Ethan Williams qualified for nationals in speech and debate last weekend.
Williams took second in Humorous Interpretation at the National Forensic League District Tournament atTulsaCommunity College. The NFL is the national honor society for high school speech and debate students.
Oologah had six students competing at the district contest. Williams was the only one to make it to the final round.
“We had an outstanding showing as a team at the district tournament,” Oologah speech coach Jennifer Denslow said. “We advanced over 80 percent of our entries out of the first two rounds and Ethan’s accomplishment was the icing on the cake.”
