The Lady Mustangs are still alive in the 4A basketball playoffs after splitting games at the regional tournament.

Oologah beat Berryhill last Friday and lost to Cascia Hall Monday in the regional championship game. Games were moved to Monday after winter weather cancelled games last Thursday.

Oologah 50- Berryhill 49

The Lady Mustangs staged a comeback in a 50-49 win against Berryhill.

“Our kids have a tendency to come out without a lot of intensity. We got down early but we came back a little at a time,” Oologah head coach Kandy Damron said. “In the first half Berryhill was on fire and everything they put up went in. Our kids kept their composure. They never panicked and they found a way to win it.”

Oologah 46- Cascia Hall 52

Cascia Hall used a big second quarter to take down Oologah 52-46.

“We came out slow again and Cascia shot really well. We contained their main shooter but they had other kids that stepped up,” coach Damron said. “We had a chance to win. We just gave up too many offensive rebounds and our shooting percentages were too low.”

The loss to Cascia Hall moved Oologah into the consolation bracket of the area tournament.

The Lady Mustangs must beat Vinita Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Skiatook to avoid elimination. Oologah split regular season games with Vinita.

“We’ve seen them before so we know what we’re up against. Every game is going to be tough at this point on the way to the state tournament,” coach Damron said.
