Folks in Oologah and Talala are feisty. We don’t always agree, but when crisis strikes, we pull together and survive. Better than survive. We prosper.
The community survived the tornado in 1991, and came back better than ever.
Sometimes Oologans take a few missteps but we don’t just throw up our hands. We work through the issues to make things better.
Talk got a little heated the past week as the community has worked on developing an industrial park. Finding the perfect location is a challenge.
The discussions at the Town Board meeting were very civil, polite and on target.
The later discussions on the newspaper Facebook page and in the newspaper were not as productive. Some comments left the impression that we are a community of gripers. That’s just not true. The community may complain, but Oologans also roll up our sleeves and pitch in to help. Our community has proved that it can come together and solve problems.
I hope the ideal location can be found for a future industrial park. We have been blessed to have a wonderful industrial neighbor in PSO, and several smaller fabricating and manufacturing businesses such as GSM, Precision Screen Manufacturing and Brunson Cabinets. We want more businesses like that in our community.
Everyone is excited about the new grocery store. There is tremendous community support for the project and it will improve our quality of life immensely.
The Oologah Talala area has a bright future. It’s bright because we care about each other and about our town. We just don’t always do the best job of expressing it.
