A Kia SUV was recovered from about seven feet of water In Oologah Lake after the driver drove it off the Winganon Boat Ramp about noon Sunday, the Oklahoma Lake Patrol reported.
Capt. George Brown and other OHP officials gave this account of the incident:
About 12:41 p.m. Sunday, two OHP divers –Troopers Lon Wise and Andy Floyd—were assigned to recover the 2012 Kia (see picture).
They came to Oologah Lake, where witnesses had said they saw a vehicle travel off the roadway and into the water around noon Sunday, said Capt.Brown, chief public information officer for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
“The driver allegedly swan out of the vehicle and was picked up by another driver. There were no injuries associated with this event,” he said.
Brown said the incident appeared to be an “intentional act.” There were no injuries in the incidents, he added.
Brown said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Troopers will investigate further to identify the vesicle’s registered owner and any other witness statements.
