Oologah Town Board members on Monday rejected an idea to change its meeting time and continued a search for a new police chief.
A small crowd attended the special meeting to support moving the board’s meeting time from the morning to the evening. Supporters of the time change said more people would be able to attend evening meetings. Currently, the board meets at 9 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month.
Board member Mat Shockley made a motion to change meetings to 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month.
The motion died when no other board member would offer a second. They said morning meetings are easier for business people to attend and when meetings were held in the evening it didn’t increase attendance.
