FFA could stand for future females in agriculture.

Oologah is part of the new trend with two females taking the helm of the Vo-Ag program.

Kadie Smith was hired by the school board last month as a Vo-Ag teacher and Hilary Bush was approved at Monday night’s meeting. This is the first teaching position for both women.

Smith believes there’s only one other district in the state with two female Vo-Ag instructors. Female leadership in FFA is a growing trend nationwide.

FFA admitted the first female member in 1971. Now, 43 percent of FFA members are girls. The influx of girls in recent years has produced a new wave of female Vo-Ag teachers.
