Oologah Police Chief Novale Thompson’s resignation was accepted a special town board meeting Friday and David Book was hired as an interim chief.
Thompson is retiring for health reasons. Book will serve as chief while the town searches for applicants. The board voted to advertise for the position for the next two weeks in local papers.
Interested candidates must have at least eight years experience in law enforcement, two years experience as an administrator or supervisor and experience in budgeting and grant writing.
Mayor Jerry Holland said Book is very qualified to serve as interim chief.
“We received a lot of good recommendations for David Book and he was highly recommended by chief Thompson,” Holland said.
Book began his career in law enforcement working at the Rogers County Jail in 2001. He went to work at Catoosa as a patrol officer from 2004 to 2008.
